About Us

why choose us

Learning Through Play

Our goal is to welcome all of our children into a positive, supportive environment in which they can grow and learn. We believe that children learn through play experiences that harness and develop their own innate creativity and highlight the importance of cooperation. Your child will grow and learn while playing with us!

Helping To Grow

Our non-profit day school plays an important role in the mission of Coronado Community United Methodist Church to serve God and share love. We are a community of Christian believers and educators committed to reaching out to children, thus helping everyone grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.

Discovering More

Learning extends beyond the classroom throughout the year with added programs and events. We invite special visitors including the police, firefighters and community leaders to come meet and interact with the children. Special events like the Polar Express, Storybook Parade, Grandparents Day, and Doughnuts with Dad increase participation and interaction for everyone.

Play As You Learn

Nutrition

We provide breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack to children enrolled at CorMeth. Menus are posted weekly. Meals are served “family-style,” where the children are encouraged to serve themselves. Mealtime becomes an enjoyable and relaxed experience, filled with good conversation and learning. We provide approximately two-thirds (2/3) of each child’s daily nutritional needs. Second helpings are always available and encouraged, so no child should leave mealtime feeling hungry!

With Love and Care

Research shows us the most important part of quality childcare and successful early learning is the choice of staff. We pride ourselves on our selection of teachers. We employ people who are warm and nurturing, who understand child development, who can apply their knowledge in the classroom, and who respect each child as an individual. Our teachers are positive in nature, understand children’s needs and are specially trained in early childhood development.

Safety and Security

Coronado Community United Methodist Church and CorMeth Day School are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our children. Our facility has a security system which includes door locks and procedures for entering and exiting the school. We also have security cameras monitoring the playground, all entrances and the hallway. Doors remain locked at all times from the outside. To enter, parents/guardians or other responsible adults must ring the doorbell to gain access. Vendors or other visitors (such as families touring the school) will be escorted through the building.

Curriculum

CorMeth curriculum meets the guidelines of the state of Florida as well as the curriculum criteria of the United Methodist Association of Preschools. Teachers develop their lesson plans, under the supervision of the director, drawing from “Learn Every Day” and “Second Step” curriculum.

School begins each morning with devotions in the classroom. In addition to morning devotions and prayer before meals, Bible stories, Christian holidays and concepts, such as love, friendship and service, are integrat-ed into the regular curriculum. United Methodist materials are primarily used for religious education.
